Gail Burks, also known as G-Funk, is a Bay Area transplant who hails from Chicago. Her passion for dance began at an early age through watching music videos by Michael and Janet Jackson, and it continues to grow stronger by the day through performing, choreographing, teaching, and competing in battles. While mainly training in Locking, Waacking, and West African, she has also studied other styles of dance such as Katherine Dunham Dance Technique and Voguing. Gail had the honor of dancing in Mix’d Ingrdnts’ Waacking performance workshop for their first production titled Breaking the Silence, being a company member for 2 years, and serving as one of the teachers for the company’s Waacking class. She is beyond excited to be a part of the production team for In Between the Seams!
Gail has performed at a variety of venues and events including Edison Theatre at Washington University in St. Louis, Bay Area Diggs Deeper, San Francisco Hip-Hop International Dancefest, City Dance Onstage, Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, SHAFTED: The Blaqxsploitation Project, the San Francisco World Percussion Arts Festival, and more.
